A little about me

Who am I?
I am a sarcastic Aries, Wife, Mom, artist, and small business owner with 1 dog and 2 cats that now lives in northeast Indiana. I am also living with Charco Marie-Tooth disorder. Nope, my teeth are fine :) that's just the names of the doctors who discovered it. More on CMT** later.
I was born and raised in upstate South Carolina with a passion for art. I loved to draw, paint with oils and write poetry. My art was what I had to hold onto through my difficult times, and, with all that practice, I was pretty good at it if I do say so myself! It was my... everything.
Time goes on and by 30 years old, due to CMT, I could no longer control a paintbrush or pencil enough to draw and paint like I did before. I continued to write for a couple of years but that too, started to wane. So, I gave it all up and went into a place in life that had little to it.
But then I was blessed with my 2 children, Savannah and Cameron, and the love of my life, my husband Jerry. They opened my world back up to be able to enjoy things again.
Still, there was part of me missing. Literally like part of my soul just wasn't there. I missed my art. I missed being able to say things without speaking. Put my feelings to paper or canvas, showing my dreams, in color.
CMT has taken my steady hands, ability to think clearly at times, my words, my ability to walk unaided, and physical strength, among other things. I try to stay positive, but the pain is never ending and can be severe at times. Not to mention what it does to you mentally.
Now back to the fun stuff!! So in 2019...(yep, the Covid years when everyone was at home streaming) I too, was watching YouTube. I came across a new (to me at least) form of painting. Acrylic pouring. OMG! I can pour paint for sure! If nothing else I can drop it over a canvas. I mean, I drop all kinds of stuff on accident I'm sure I could do it on purpose :).
I watched tons of videos over the next week soaking up all the information I could get. My heart sang! I was so excited to try and see if I could do it. Amazon here I come! I bought as much as I could and waited for it all to get here.
Isn't it amazing how quickly a kitchen table can be taken over when there's a crafter in the house? And then it spills over into the dining room, somehow :).
I had forgotten how fun it was to learn how to do something new, and actually be able to do it! Even with everything else going on at the time, I felt whole again. I was me again.
Here I am 4 years later writing my first ever Blog entry, on my first ever website that sells things I never thought I'd be able to make. I have included resin into my art repertoire and am learning more every day.
Never stop looking. Never stop learning.
May restful sleep bring you peace, and the sunrise bring you hope.
